About Us.
We are an independent grassroots advocacy group of people living with dementia and care partners.
Established in 2014
The NWDWG was established in 2014 by a group of people living with dementia and care partners who were working with the Centre for Education and Research on Aging & Health (CERAH) at Lakehead University on a research project led by Dr. Elaine Wiersma and supported by Ruth Wilford, Knowledge Broker. When the 2 year project ended, the group was interested in continuing to work together towards goals that were important to them. The group has expanded and evolved over the years, but still always is comprised of people living with dementia and care partners.
Our Vision
People living with dementia are treated with respect, dignity, and afforded their human rights.
Our Support
We are supported by the Centre for Education and Research on Aging & Health
